Financial Cents Pricing (October 2026): What a 1-, 3- and 5-Person Firm Actually Pays
Financial Cents pricing checked Oct 1, 2026: Solo, Team and Scale, the 12-month agreement, the 5-user monthly rule, and which plan sends client reminders.
On this page
Financial Cents costs $19 a month for one user on Solo, $49 per user on Team and $69 per user on Scale, billed annually — checked on Financial Cents' own pricing page October 1, 2026, re-verified October 5. Monthly billing costs more and needs at least five users. Every plan is a 12-month agreement, and reminders that chase clients on their own don't start until Scale.
Key takeaways
- Solo is $19/month (one user, annual billing only). Team and Scale start at $49 and $69 per user annually, or $69 and $89 per user monthly — but monthly billing needs five users minimum.
- Every plan, whatever the billing cycle, is a 12-month agreement.
- Client tasks, a client portal and an AI File Validator are on every plan. Reminders that go out to clients on their own are not — that's a Scale-plan feature.

Financial Cents plans and prices (checked October 1, 2026)
Financial Cents sells four plans — Solo, Team, Scale and Enterprise — priced per user per month, with annual and (on Team and Scale) monthly billing. Solo is capped at one user; Team and Scale carry a five-user minimum if you want monthly billing at all.
| Plan | Annual billing | Monthly billing | Users | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $19/user/mo | Not offered | Single-user firms only | Can't add a second seat — upgrade to Team or Scale instead |
| Team | $49/user/mo | $69/user/mo | No minimum annual; 5+ for monthly | — |
| Scale ("Most Popular") | $69/user/mo | $89/user/mo | No minimum annual; 5+ for monthly | Auto-follow ups, branded portal, Zapier, Open API, tax software integrations |
| Enterprise | Custom | — | Custom | IP whitelisting, a mandatory 2FA option, custom permissions |
Prices read on Financial Cents' pricing page, checked October 1, 2026, re-verified October 5, 2026.1
Every plan's pricing card carries the same line: "Free 14-Day Trial | No Credit Card Required," and all plans are a 12-month agreement. Read that twice — monthly billing looks like a month-to-month option, and it isn't one. Financial Cents' own FAQ also claims "Annual plans save you up to 30% compared to monthly pricing." Prices are shown in USD, with a CAD toggle.
The catch: 12 months, five users, one seat on Solo
Three rules change what you actually pay. First, every plan is a 12-month agreement regardless of billing frequency. "Monthly billing" is a payment schedule inside a year-long commitment, not a month-to-month contract you can cancel on notice. Second, monthly billing on Team or Scale requires at least five users; below that, you bill annually or you don't get the monthly rate at all. Third, Solo tops out at one user. Financial Cents' FAQ states it plainly: "The Solo plan is designed for single-user firms only. If you need to add more users, you'll need to upgrade to the Team or Scale plan."1
Put together, a three-person firm can't pay Financial Cents monthly at all: it's below the five-user minimum, so its only options are annual billing on Team or Scale, or buying two seats it doesn't need to clear the monthly threshold.
What it costs at 1, 3 and 5 people
A solo operator pays $228 a year on Solo. A three-person firm pays $1,764 a year on Team, since Solo won't stretch past one seat. A five-person firm pays $2,940 a year on Team, or can unlock monthly billing at $4,140 a year if it wants to avoid committing upfront.
| Team size | Solo (annual) | Team (annual) | Team (monthly, 12-mo agreement) | Scale (annual) | Scale (monthly, 12-mo agreement) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $19/mo · $228/yr | $49/mo · $588/yr | Not available (under 5 users) | $69/mo · $828/yr | Not available |
| 3 people | Not available (single-user cap) | $147/mo · $1,764/yr | Not available (under 5 users) | $207/mo · $2,484/yr | Not available |
| 5 people | Not available | $245/mo · $2,940/yr | $345/mo · $4,140/yr | $345/mo · $4,140/yr | $445/mo · $5,340/yr |
List prices before tax, arithmetic from the plan table above (users × monthly rate × 12), checked October 1, 2026. The one-person Team and Scale columns rely on Financial Cents' own FAQ statement that there's "no minimum on the annual billing" for those plans.1
Note that at five people, Team billed monthly ($4,140/yr) costs the same as Scale billed annually ($4,140/yr) — the five-user monthly surcharge on Team erases the price gap to Scale's extra features. If you're going to hit five seats and bill monthly anyway, Scale is close to a free upgrade.
What each plan does for client document requests and reminders
Every Financial Cents plan includes client tasks and requests, a client portal and secure file sharing. What it doesn't include on every plan is the follow-up: the help center lists auto-reminders for client tasks as a Scale-plan feature. On Solo and Team, someone at the firm still sends the nudge by hand.
| Capability | Solo | Team | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Client tasks & requests | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Client portal | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ (branded on Scale) |
| Auto-follow ups for client tasks | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ |
| Customize client task emails | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ |
| AI File Validator, Renaming, Routing | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ (every plan) |
| Integrated email | — | ✓ | ✓ |
| SmartVault, OneDrive & Google Drive sync, tax software integrations | — | — | ✓ |
Per the help center article on automated client reminders: once activated, "your client will automatically get email and SMS reminders until they complete the client task request list sent to them," and that page states plainly, "This feature is part of the Scale Plan."2 The Scale Plan's own feature list repeats it as "Auto-follow ups for client tasks."1
The part of this that's closest to what I do: Financial Cents ships an AI File Validator on every plan, not gated to Scale. Per Financial Cents' own description, it "reads the document and compares it against the request, the project’s accounting period, and client details," and "if something’s off, wrong year, wrong bank, wrong document, the client sees clear feedback right in the portal and can replace it on the spot."3 That's a real, close match to what DokuTrak's own first pass flags. I won't claim either one catches more than the other, since neither of us publishes an accuracy number. The practical difference is where it happens. Financial Cents' validator works inside its own client portal, so your client needs to be in that portal to see the feedback. DokuTrak's version works off a single upload link, with no account for the client.
What the price doesn't include
Month-End Close, Financial Cents' tool for managing uncategorized transactions, is a $5-a-month-per-client add-on, billed annually — not bundled into any plan's sticker price.1 E-signatures are included on every plan, but identity-verification add-ons for signing (the kind that confirm a signer's identity beyond an email link) are an add-on: KBA signatures cost $1–$2 per KBA, depending on package size.1
Is Financial Cents worth it? Who should pick it, who should skip it
Pick it if you're a small accounting or bookkeeping firm — roughly two to ten people — that wants workflow, time tracking, billing, proposals and client requests in one inexpensive tool, and whose clients are fine logging into a portal to upload. At $49 to $69 a user annually, it's genuinely cheap for what it bundles, and the AI File Validator comes on every plan.
Skip it, or look again, if you're a solo operator who only needs the document chase. The follow-up that actually saves you time is a Scale-plan feature, so getting it means paying Scale prices for a suite of tools you won't touch. The same goes for a firm already running a separate practice-management system that just wants requests and reminders layered on top — you'd be paying for workflow, billing and proposals a second time. For a wider comparison against heavier suites like TaxDome or Karbon, see TaxDome alternatives, which breaks down per-seat costs across several of these tools.
If what you need is the document chase
If what you're paying for is mostly the request-and-reminder part, I built DokuTrak to do only that. One request per client, and the client uploads from a single secure link with no account. Follow-ups go out on their own, reading as a file status rather than a nag — "Your file: 4 of 6 documents received" — and an optional AI first pass flags a wrong, unreadable or expired file before you open it. You accept every file; the software never does.
Unlike Financial Cents, where reminders that chase clients are a top-tier feature, DokuTrak's pricing page lists reminders on a schedule as included on every plan, not just the most expensive one.4 It sits beside a practice-management tool rather than replacing it: DokuTrak doesn't do workflow, time tracking, invoicing or proposals, and Financial Cents does all of that, inexpensively, for firms that want it in one place. DokuTrak for accountants covers the accounting-specific setup, and other no-account request tools covers the narrower comparison if a full suite isn't what you're after.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Financial Cents cost per month?
Billed annually, Solo is $19 a month for one user, Team is $49 per user and Scale is $69 per user (checked October 1, 2026). Billed monthly, Team is $69 per user and Scale is $89 per user, both under a 12-month agreement and both requiring at least five users.
Does Financial Cents have a free plan or free trial?
No free plan. The pricing page offers a free 14-day trial with no credit card required on every plan.
Can I pay Financial Cents monthly?
On Team and Scale, yes, at a higher per-user rate, and only with at least five users. Solo has no monthly option. Every plan, however billed, is a 12-month agreement.
Does Financial Cents send reminders to clients on its own?
Only on Scale and above. The help center describes it as a Scale Plan feature: once activated, the client gets email and SMS reminders until the task list is complete. On Solo and Team, someone at the firm sends the follow-up by hand.
Is Financial Cents cheaper than TaxDome?
Per seat, yes, at the entry level — Financial Cents Solo is $19 a month against TaxDome Essentials at roughly $58 to $67 a month, though TaxDome bills upfront for a 1-, 2- or 3-year term rather than month to month. See the full seat-by-seat breakdown in [TaxDome alternatives](/blog/taxdome-alternative) and [TaxDome pricing](/blog/taxdome-pricing).
