Can DokuTrak replace ShareFile entirely?
For the document collection workflow specifically, yes — and it typically does it better because of the no-account upload link model. For file-sharing, cloud storage, and e-signature use cases, no: DokuTrak is scoped to collection, not storage or signing. Some firms keep ShareFile for long-term storage and e-sign, and move only the intake workflow to DokuTrak.
Is DokuTrak cheaper than ShareFile?
Usually not. ShareFile’s entry tier, Advanced, is $16.50 per user per month billed annually, so a five-person firm pays about $82.50/month, while DokuTrak Team is $199/month for five seats. How secure is DokuTrak compared to ShareFile?
AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, hosted in Paris France, and append-only audit logs for security-sensitive activity. ShareFile has a more mature compliance footprint, including HIPAA-oriented plans. If HIPAA compliance is a hard requirement for your workflow, stay with ShareFile for now.
Does DokuTrak work on mobile like ShareFile?
Yes. Uploads from the secure link work on iPhone, Android, tablet, or laptop — anything with a browser. Clients can take photos of paper documents (HEIC supported) and upload directly from their camera roll. No app to install. No account to manage.
Can I export my ShareFile data into DokuTrak?
There is no direct import today. The usual path is to set up DokuTrak for new intake requests going forward, while keeping ShareFile for the archive of historical documents. You control the timeline.
What about white-labeling / branded portals?
ShareFile supports branded portals. DokuTrak does not yet — custom branding on the upload page is on our 2026 roadmap. In practice, clients care that the upload flow is fast, not about whose logo is on it. The upload experience is clean and professional, just not yours-branded today.
