DokuTrak for Law firms
Client Portal for Law Firms,
Not Another Clio.
DokuTrak is the client portal for law firms where clients actually upload documents. Magic-link uploads (no login), automatic reminders, one-click intake review. $49/month flat, whole firm, not $69/seat/month.
Why law firm intake is broken
Intake stretches from days to weeks
You open the matter. You email the client a document list. They forget. You follow up. You follow up again. Two weeks later you have half the documents and a passive-aggressive paralegal.
Clients refuse to log into your portal
You bought a client portal. The marketing promised adoption. Your clients — under legal stress, elderly, non-English-primary, or just not tech-fluent — email attachments back anyway. The portal becomes a $69/month document graveyard.
Documents scatter across email, Dropbox, and Clio
Three years later when you need the signed engagement letter, it is in one of five places. The billable hour spent searching is unbillable.
How US law firms use DokuTrak
Sole practitioners, small firms (3–20 seats), and sub-practices inside larger firms use DokuTrak as the document-collection layer alongside their existing case management (or instead of it, for firms still on spreadsheets and Dropbox). You do not have to switch your case management — DokuTrak handles the intake workflow and exports to wherever you store matters.
Matter-specific request templates
Build templates by case type: I-130 filings, PI demand packages, real estate closings, criminal defense discovery. Each template lists the exact documents you need with one-sentence explanations. Reuse across every similar matter in three clicks.
Reminders that do not annoy clients
Reminders fire on a calibrated cadence — 2 days, 5 days, 10 days — with language written by human copy, not by a SaaS spam engine. Your client is a stressed person going through a legal process, not a lead in your CRM.
One-click reject: right form, wrong year
Client sent last year's W-2 for an I-130 joint sponsor affidavit? Click Reject, type "I need 2024, not 2023", hit send. DokuTrak auto-emails the client, re-opens that exact slot, keeps the intake otherwise intact. No new email thread, no "can you resend".
Paralegal-and-attorney collaboration
Whole firm, one price. Your paralegal sets up intakes, your associate reviews, your partner signs off. Every action logged in the audit trail. Perfect for firms where the partner wants oversight without doing the data entry.

Why we are not trying to be Clio
Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, Smokeball — all good products. They charge $69–$159 per seat per month because they do 50 things: billing, calendaring, time tracking, trust accounting, matter management, client portal, e-sign, reporting. If you want all of that in one box, go buy Clio and use it.
But most firms we talk to use 8 of those 50 features, and the one that is consistently broken is the client portal — specifically the document collection part. Clients will not log in. So you end up collecting documents by email anyway, which is the problem you were trying to solve.
DokuTrak is built for exactly that gap. You keep Clio (or MyCase, or whatever) for billing and matter management. You use DokuTrak for the intake workflow that Clio’s portal fails at. It costs less than one billable hour a month. It pays for itself the first time your paralegal does not spend a Friday afternoon chasing passport scans.
Looking for help with a specific practice area? We have vertical pages for law firms generally, insurance practice crossovers, and you can always email [email protected] with your workflow — we’ll tell you honestly whether DokuTrak is the right fit.

Law firm FAQs
Does DokuTrak replace Clio / MyCase / PracticePanther?
No, and we do not want to. Those are practice management suites — they handle billing, matter management, trust accounting, and a lot more. DokuTrak is the document-collection layer. Most of our law firm users keep their existing practice management tool and use DokuTrak for the client intake step specifically, because the built-in client portals in those suites have the same "clients will not log in" problem.
Can I use DokuTrak for immigration practice (I-130, I-485, I-765)?
Yes. Immigration is one of our strongest-fit verticals. Build a template per petition type listing every USCIS-required exhibit — passport bio page, birth certificate, marriage certificate, I-94, tax transcripts, evidence of bona fide marriage, etc. Reuse it across every case. Your clients upload from their phone, including HEIC photos of paper documents. You review and reject as needed in one click.
Is DokuTrak suitable for personal injury practice?
Yes. PI workflows involve a heavy document intake phase: police report, medical records from every treating provider, bills, lost wage documentation, insurance correspondence, photos of injuries. DokuTrak templates let you send one request covering all of it. For PI firms using Filevine or CASEpeer, DokuTrak handles the client-facing intake and you import the collected documents into your case management of choice.
Is this secure enough for confidential client documents?
AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, EU-hosted on a dedicated Hostinger VPS in Paris, GDPR-compliant. Full audit log of every access. SOC 2 Type II certification in progress. Security documentation available on request under NDA. More detail at /security.
What about attorney-client privilege?
Documents uploaded to DokuTrak are the client's documents being shared with their attorney — the normal attorney-client communication context. DokuTrak is the transport and storage layer. Our staff does not read document contents (no access by default; support-triggered access is time-limited, written-consent-gated, and logged in your audit trail). Same model used by every client portal or SaaS-based law firm document storage.
Do you offer discounts for solo practitioners or legal aid?
Yes. Solo practitioners in their first year of practice and verified legal aid organizations get 50% off. Email [email protected] with a short note.
